New Rupee Symbol Launched Download Free
A new symbol for its rupee currency has been launched which is set to become a globally recognised sign, just like the dollar and its symbol $. Rs, Re or INR are currently used to denote the Rupee.
Mangalore based Foradian Technologies Pvt Ltd has created a font called Rupee_Foradian. Users can download the new symbol from their website for free. By having its own symbol the Indian rupee has achieved parity with major currencies such as the dollar, euro, pound sterling and yen in one respect.
The users can watch a video showing how easy it is to use the symbol in Youtube.
The winning symbol was created by Uday Kumar, a post-graduate student at the Indian Institute of Technology.
The Rupee symbol is an amalgam of the Indian Devanagari script Ra and the Roman capital letter R without the vertical line in it.
