Chrome Extensions To Direct Download RapidShare and MegaUpload Files

RapidShare and MegaUpload are free services that let you upload and download files, but as we all know, nothing is truly free.  Your payment on these sites versus some other sites is time.  The download speeds can be pretty slow, but the thing that irritates me the most is the countdowns you have to wait through to download something.

Once the countdown is over, you must manually click the download button.  If you don’t in a certain amount of time,  the countdown restarts!

To get rid of the annoyance that these countdowns are, I found two Chrome extensions (by the same developer) which make life a lot easier for the RapidShare and MegaUpload users. I thought it would be best if I share them with my readers so that you can benefit from them as I did.

RapidShare DownloadHelper

RapidShare DownloadHelper is a great Chrome extension by the developer YevgenyAndrov. This extension monitors the countdown on any RapidShare download page. Once the countdown is over, the extension recognizes the situation, and automatically initiates the download. This way we do not have to keep monitoring the countdown and worry about having the countdown restarted.

MegaUpload DownloadHelper

The developer created a very similar extension for MegaUpload. The same function is served: MegaUpload’s countdown is monitored by MegaUpload DownloadHelper and when the countdown is over, the file is automatically downloaded.

These extensions do not eliminate the countdowns or the waiting times, but they certainly make working with countdowns a lot easier. YevgenyAndrov’s extensions have made RapidShare and MegaUpload more convenient for me as I am sure they will for you.
